Primitive Holiday Wreath

Since I love decorating my primitive home for the holidays I thought I'd share making a wreath using prim items I'm sure everyone has somewhere in their home.

The first thing I found was a wreath down in my basement my friend had given me.    I found a smaller berry wreath with a star that I decided to place in the middle.  Using the berries I attached a few here and there to secure it to the bigger wreath.

In the middle of the wreath there was a rusty star that looked kind of lonely, so I decided to go through all my primitive Christmas ornaments I had in a box and found this prim wooden snowman that I thought would go perfectly in the middle of the star.  Just hot glued him on.

Next, you can go to the dollar store or any craft store and find bags of Christmas potpourri.  I went through one I had and picked out red and tan walnuts and dried apples and hot glued them around the wreath.

There are so many options to decorating a wreath with things you already have the possibilities are endless.

These wreaths already made would cost about $40 or $50 but this one cost about $1.00 for the potpourri.

It's original and you have the pride or your own creation.

Prim Curtains for Spring!

Well, hopefully spring is just around the corner.  Of course with the change of seasons I want to start hanging new prim curtains.  I went to my local fabric store and found material for $1.99 a yard!  Since I needed around 9 yards I thought this was a pretty good deal!

I have alot of plaids, checks, etc in my living room so I thought why not add some florals too!

My tiebacks are made from some old burlap with a cute country button attached in the middle.

You could also use raffia and weave right through the button!

Here are some pics!  Enjoy!

Laundry Room Makeover

Well I finally decided to do something about my ugly laundry room.  The walls were dirty yellow, the floor was that old dark green tile (yuck!) and the whole thing just needed a facelift.  I started by using a tinted primer I had left over from my bedroom walls.  I was originally going to paint the walls yellow but the more I looked at the primer (a light gray) the more I liked it just the way it was.  The trim was painted white, I put some peel and stick tiles on the floor and added some laundry stickers I purchase out of a catalog.  I have this workshop room in the back which is pretty old and ugly so I decided to hang some curtains to divide the rooms.  I purchased some cute material on line called "Domestic Goddess" and cut, sewed and hung in about an hour.  Here are some pics of what I've done so far.

An old clothes dryer a friend gave me

I'm still working on it so I'll be back soon with more pics!

                                                            Blessings!

Antique Shopping!

Hello Everyone!

I hope everyone is having a great start to the new year!  I went antique shopping with a couple of friends yesterday and I thought I'd share a couple of things I just had to buy!  Of course, right?  Since I still run my childcare business out of my home I saw this cute alphabet block and thought it would fit right in!

For some reason I also like tavern signs and just loved this one!  I just placed it on top of my corner chair instead of hanging it!  Here it is!

I've had alot of computer problems lately but hopefully things will be working fine now so I'll be blogging more and adding to my website.

Hope this finds you all happy and healthy!  Blessings to all!

Winter Splendor

Hello Everyone!

I haven't blogged in quite awhile because my childcare business has picked up and I just haven't had the time.  Fortunately today I have a few minutes to myself so I wanted to wish all my prim buddies a Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

We had a blizzard over the weekend and I took this pic right after the storm.  It's a view of my back yard at sunset.  I think the first big snow of the year is just so beautiful.  Enjoy!

Squirrels Have to Eat Too!!

Hello Everyone!

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Today was pretty much just like very other weekday.  I was giving my daycare kids lunch and just puttering around the kitchen.  All of a sudden one of the kids is yelling and pointing to my kitchen window.  Low and behold there sat a squirrel on my birdfeeder helping himself to the sunflower seeds that were mixed in with the regular bird seed.  It amazes me how he got up there without falling.  It's probably about 5 feet from the feeder to the ground.  I, of course, hurried to grab my camera.  Luckily for me he stayed there long enough for me to snap this pic!  Enjoy!

Cat Napping

Just waiting for one more of my daycare kids to show up.  While I'm just sitting here I spotted Zion taking a quick cat nap.  He gets in the strangest positions but I just love him to death!
